Charging by friction, induction, conduction (electroscope)

Rub glass, ebonite or plastic rods with cloth, then charge a gold-leaf electroscope by conduction and by induction (with earthing). Watch electrons move, the leaves diverge and the sign of the final charge.

What you do in the lab

Change the controls and watch the physics behave in real time in 3D. Live readouts and graphs show the numbers behind it, and the Learn tab has the theory, procedure, observations and viva questions. Works on a phone or a laptop, in English and Hindi.

Topics: static electricity · electroscope · induction · conduction · charging by friction · conservation of charge
